The Long Version:
So I'm just getting into this gig, wanting to try out some things, trying to recreate some old favourite snes tracks of mine in an effort to learn something about music and digital instruments.

In that vein I've had some experimentation with recreating some tracks using soundfonts I've found online, which naturally were very helpful. I wouldn't have ever been able to get anything done if not for these preconfigured instruments.
But I can only go so far using other peoples soundfonts and so I've decided to follow this guide online that helps you "borrow" instruments and sounds from spc files. So far I've been able to use the extracted samples but there is this one instrument that I can in no way recreate using the sample I extracted.

So my question is, can someone help me recreate the sound I'm looking for in polyphone? I've been randomly changing settings for hours and still haven;t come remotely close to what it's supposed to sound like.

I know this might not be the right place, but I've got to start somewhere.

Also should you be interested, it's an instrument from an old Konami Game

The Short version
Can anyone aid me in getting from source sample X to instrument Y in polyphone?
I've added a source sample an isolated melody

Thanks for the answer but that is not really what I asked. I might have phrased it wrong so lemme try again.
Can anyone help me recreate the sound in the melody I provided using the sample I provided?

A similar sound can be obtained by playing with the modulation settings (and a saw wave sample).
Unfortunately, each of the soft synthesizers on the market reacts differently to modulation settings. (BASS; Fluid, SynthFont2, etc.)
Instead, you can get better results using samples of original snes sounds.
For you, I've added a soundfont that I made with "saw-wave" sampling.
And I added a midi file containing the melody you gave.
